Manipal univ starts new courses in Karnataka campus

Manipal, Nov 15: The Manipal University here has introduced new courses for the new academic year, besides enhancing the freeships for the new session of 2010-11 for which the admission process began here today.

Announcing this at a press conference University Vice-Chancellor K Ramnarayan and Registrar G K Prabhu said the Board of Management had also agreed to the proposal of awarding scholarship scheme of three year to those take up PhD courses from the new academic session.

Under this scheme, 13 students have been shortlisted out of the 180 applications received.

During the first year, the students will be paid Rs 16,000 per month, whereas it will be Rs 17,000 during the second year and Rs.

18,000 in the third year. The university will also not undertake any service bonds, they said and added that this is the first private university which has introduced such scholarship scheme to the PhD students depending on the availability of guides more students will be registered from the next academic session.
